Amongst its
services Unity supports individuals across a wide variety of fields, including
the training, upskilling and re-training of union members.
We have recently acquired funding through the ULF and now have a vacancy for a
Project Worker, who will report to our Project Manager based at our Resource
centre in Hanley, Stoke on Trent.
JOB TITLE Project Worker
HOURS OF WORK 35 hours per week
EMPLOYMENT TYPE Full –time (initial fixed term contract to March 2009)
The Project Worker
will assist the Project Manager in the co-ordination of the activities of the
project, ensuring that targets and objectives are achieved successfully within
agreed timescales. This project focuses on the recruitment and development of
Union Learner Representatives and the delivery of skills, e.g: Skills for life,
IT skills and job related skills for union members. As part of the Project
worker the post holder will work with other staff to ensure the integration of
equal opportunities in all aspects of project planning and delivery.
The ideal candidate will have an affinity with trade unions and the trade union
movement and will have excellent motivation and communication skills, from team
to senior level, and be able to communicate to a wide range of audiences. In
addition they will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and
have an understanding of funding mechanisms and not for profit organisation(s).
The salary for this position is £20000 per annum, and the non-monetary

Unity the union have recently acquired funding to help improve Life Skills in
the Workplace and are pleased to announce that we have a vacancy for a Project
Worker based at our Resource Centre in Hanley, Stoke on Trent. The vacancy is
offered at £20k p.a. and will initially be on a fixed term contract ending in
March 2009.
The successful candidate will assist the Project Manager in developing a network
of Learner Representatives in the workplace and promote and encourage members to
undertake training aimed at improving their numeracy, literacy, I.T. and job
specific skills.
The
right person will ideally have –
- Experience of Union Learning projects
- The ability to promote the project to all levels within organisations and be able to develop a network of learning support groups
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience of and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages.
